The editorial claimed that the gubernatorial candidate lacked the worldly wisdom and that this ________ would likely to be undoing.

a. naivete
b. furtiveness
c. venality
d. indecisiveness
e. sarcasm

The correct answer is A but I chose D at first.
Can lacking the worldly wisdom be called as naivete? I don’t know how this is A.
Thanks in advance.

“Lacking worldy wisdom” You needed to look at the verb: lacked. The candidate was not described as indecisive but, as lacking.

From Merriam Webster for “naive”: “having or showing a lack of experience or knowledge : innocent or simple”.
