My dream is to attend UT but i thought I couldint get in so I pursued criminal justice at Texas State, I like it here but it is easy and I get along with 0 people because they all just party and dont care about school… I am dedicated to my work and want to succeed. So I got accepted to UT! only problem is that UT does not have a CJ program so I will need to transfer to Government. This will put me hopefully only 1 semester behind, 2nd problem is that I dont know how much more expensive UT is than TS. Should I just finish my CJ degree here at Texas State or tansfer to my dream school but be a bit behind? please help:(
Anything?..
Look up the relative costs on the school websites. Will you get aid? Can you swing it financially?
Government from UT will take you much farther than CJ from Texas State. Make sure to take classes in statistics (a minor would be best as the combination will make you easily employable.) You could try to volunteer on a political campaign - there’s one coming up
- it’ll give you experiences many students won’t have, especially if you’re aiming for law school, most especially with being convincing, talking to lots of different people, and speaking up.
As for costs: email UT’s admissions, or call!
As a transfer, I don’t think you’d have to live on campus, which would allow you to shave off costs (cooking for yourself, finding roommates, etc). When you call/email, ask if they provide help with finding off campus housing/off campus roommates.

Thank you MYOS1634! At first I thought you said longer to get a degree so I was like oh no! but you said 'father" which i completely agree. IT was always my dream school and I just hope to God it will become a reality for me.
Bump.
You can always speed up your graduation by taking online / community college Gen Eds over the summers. If you take 6 hours of classes per summer(3 hr during sum 1 and 3 hr during sum 2) for 2 summers, you can be 12 hours ahead, and graduate 1 semester earlier. (in your case, right on time)
Good luck!!
The poster probably figure out what to do. S/he hasn’t been on CC since May.
