please help, this is totally not what i expected

Dear Ms. Nengding Wang:

The Admissions Committee has met and concluded its evaluation of candidates for Yale under the Early Action program. The Committee was not able to take action on your application because your file is not yet complete. The sheet enclosed with the letter you will receive from our office indicates the items that are still missing. Assuming that your application is complete when the Committee reconvenes in February, you will receive a final decision in early April.

I am sorry I cannot give you a firm response, because it means another period of uncertainty for you. At the same time, it seems better to keep your status open and wait for the arrival of the information we do not have than to deactivate your file.

In the meantime, I wish you success in your studies or in whatever you are pursuing this year.

Sincerely,

Richard H. Shaw
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid

this is what i got. i was completely shocked. at least give me a definite answer! i asked them lots of times before if my file was completed. the reply was always either wait a while or it has been received. no one ever told me my file was incomplete.

Just find out what's missing and get it in. You'll get a definite decision in April.

Good luck.
