Please help very important question

Ok so I read online that if there was a legitimate reason why you messed up one semester or year that you should let the college know.

Well when my freshman year started my mom left my me and moved away. It was a very hard time for me and for that my grades didn’t do so good. I was moving around from home to home and was emotionally traumatized…

Anyways I thought that was a legitamite reason and was wondering how I should tell my college, should I put it in the common section of my application? Or send the school an email of some sort. Please let me know it would be very appreciated

You could put something in the Additional Information section, but I would recommend asking your HS GC to address it in the Secondary School Report. Just a couple of sentences in their LOR informing schools what was going on in your personal life during fr year.

In general I think these types of issues are better presented by someone other than the applicant.

Ok! Thank you so much
