I flew to Alaska this winter, planning out all the factors, but, unfortunately, for the days I was there, the weather was cloudy, and I didn’t see the northern lights.

Now, I am monitoring all the alerts, and I see that a big storm is going on.

I am in New York City. Where can I go to see the northern lights? Does anyone know if today or tomorrow would be the better night (tomorrow would work much better, but I can go tonight).

I am willing to drive 6-7 hours or take a plane, as long as I can find a cheap flight (although to fly, I would probably have to go tomorrow). I just don’t know where to go. I know the general range where they will be (like Toronto), but I am wondering about specific well-situated places (on a hill, 360-view, elevated, etc.), so I don’t get to a big city and then drive around where to go.

If anyone has any personal or professional experience having to do with northern lights, I would really appreciate it!
