I came across a choice that said “death toll”. I couldn’t really link the two words. What does that choice mean?
Death toll means the people who died. For instance, the “death toll” of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atom bomb strikes consisted almost entirely of unarmed civilians.

I meant “personal toll”
“Personal toll” means the pain, suffering, or other consequences that one will personally incur.
