I speak with limited experience, but I would recommend reviewing all the grammar rules you can find, if you have not already done so. For me on my first sitting, I got a 79 on the grammar portion without studying. I’m pretty sure it’s because I spent a significant portion of time in my sophomore year peer-editing my classmates’ papers – about 10 a night during finals week. When you do this, recognizing grammatical mistakes becomes very automatic. If you are able to do this, it may help you on the grammar portion quite a bit.

As far as the essay goes, all I can recommend is practice, and then get feedback on each essay, if you haven’t tried that already. I suppose keeping up with current events could help too. A friend of mine reads the news diligently as part of a debate event, and as a result she can easily weave that evidence into her timed essays.

Study hard, and make it count. I hope this helps.

You seem to have plateaued studying out of books, so I would recommend getting just a couple hours of tutoring. 2 hours of intense tutoring with a professional could help a lot. Usually, it’s not too expensive if you’re willing to go 2 for 1 with a friend. If not, practice essays, and a lot of them. that’s the hard part.

advises are well received. however tutoring doesn’t really seem to me as a practical option as the place i am currently situated does not offer that much of a good tutor.Additionally, the time i am currently allocated is not enough for me to learn and revise all the materials i will learn through a tutor.

I was looking for more of a tangible materials such as a list of organized idioms or common errors that may be found on the SAT Writing section. Anyone know where i can acquire some?
