I am a current sophomore in a tough ISL prep school. I am looking to be recruited in the sport of lacrosse to a d1 or d3 school. My average for my first semester of my sophomore year and the final grades for freshman year have to be around a C+ gpa. I had a good 1st semester of my current sophomore year, however my exams brought my grades down. If my gpa for last year and this years first semester is around a c+ (2.4? 2.5?). Assuming I do better in the 2nd semester (i usually get b’s and c’s), what are my chances of going to a decent college? ive heard they take into account that prestigious prep schools are harder than public schools? also, what kind of break do they give recruits on gpa? Thank you

anyone? please im really worried

By being a sophomore, You still have time to get your grades up, especially that junior year. As for as recruiting goes, try getting your gpa above 3.0 by the end of your junior year if you can. You don’t have to be 1st in your class or a perfect SAT score. If you get your SAT above 2000 and get better at lacrosse, you have a decent chance. Basically around a 3.2 w/ 2000 SAT will get you in most places. You will probably attend a prep school as they are far easier to attend when you play a sport.

thanks! as for my last question, do they take into account that prep school is harder than public school? ive heard myths that they consider a 2.4 in prep would be around a 2.8 in public school.

anyone?! please

They would probably look at class rank plus the rigor of your courses. They would give you a notice that you go to a prep school and not a regular public school but it wouldn’t be too much of a notice. Just try to pull up your grades and take rigorous courses and you should be fine.
