Am doing practice tests, i just want to know that for example on the verbal part of the general GRE how shall I convert my raw score into a scaled score ?

Any tables to do that ?

Am almost getting 10 / 30 in the verbal part - can any one estimate how much that would be on the 200-800 scale ?

Does your practice test book/software not come with a conversion table? That seems strange.

Here’s some chart that some person on the Internet posted. I can make no claims whatsoever about its accuracy, and indeed have no idea what the person’s source is.

Why do you need more than one table to figure out the score? You could try the practice computer tests that ETS has (some program on their website) and that gives you a score (200-800) I believe.

That means that how you do on earlier questions affects the difficulty of later questions. So two people can get the same number of questions right, but end up with different scores because the difficulty level of their later questions was not the same.

zxzz74 - FIRST get yourself the PowerPrep package from ETS. Its free. Even though you plan to take the paper test, it will give you the best idea of what to expect AND it will give you a “real” score.

SECOND - remember that those practice tests are not really “practice”. They are there to help diagnose any weaknesses you may have. After you take one, carefully go through the book it came in and figure out what you need to study. They are not meant to be predictive in the sense you seem to be seeking.

Although ETS currently shows only the one collection, I seem to remember thay had more a couple years ago. Check with your school’s career services or academic counseling office - they may have more available.

FINALLY - relax. The GRE is only a small part of the admission process and depending on your field, it may be nearly irrelevant even if some graduate school requires it. And it’s not that hard anyway.
