Please, I need some advice...

SO I’ve just moved in, and it seems everyone in my dorm floor seem to be very intelligent. Had 2000+ SAT scores and had 5s on all their AP tests. I’m coming from an underprivileged school and it seems to be that I won’t be able to handle the curriculum here :(. I feel unprepared and I am really scared for when classes begin. If anyone is/has experience(d) this, can you please share any advice on how to overcome such intimidation?

I have an 1910 SAT scores and have passed my AP tests with 3s and one 4. Apparently, those are bad scores…

lol it doesn’t matter what they did in the past or what grades they got. Once your here, all that matters is how much effort YOU put in. People with top grades start getting bad grades after coming here and maybe it’ll help you get more motivated because you know you have to work harder. One of the keys to succeeding here is PRACTICE (depending on your subject like math science etc.)

I agree; motivation is key and the amount of work you put in will definitely reflect in your grades. Berkeley admissions is competitive and they wouldn’t have let you in if they didn’t believe you deserved to be here. Intelligence and scores aren’t everything, far from it. The fact that you’re concerned shows that you care more than the braggarts who may end up overestimating their abilities and start slacking off. Just keep ahead on reading, study hard (but don’t burn yourself out), go to office hours, and you should do great :)
