Please Inform me of my chances, areas of improvement and what more I should do.

I am 15 years of age. My country of residence is Canada but I hold Indian citizenship. I’ve lived in Canada for about 2 years now. According to English as second language placement tests, I do not need to take extra classes and it was said that I have better English skills than the average Canadian. I have excellent grades in all classes. They are as follows:

Math: 100%
English: 95%
Science: 97%
Social Studies: 87%
Computer Science: 100%
French: 94%
Food Study & Cooking: 98%
Phys. Ed.: 99%

I take advanced Math, French and Science classes. In Canada high-school starts in grade 10 so I am not in high-school yet. I do take multiple high-school AP courses in Math, Physics and Chemistry. I am currently taking the mandatory grade 9 Math and science courses and AP Math 20, AP Chem 20 and AP Physics 30 simultaneously to work ahead. I volunteered at an old age home for a few months. I am currently applying for volunteering positions at the public library, medical facilities and wildlife preservation centers in the city I recently moved to. When I lived in India, I was ranked 3rd in the National Science Olympiad 2 years in a row. I have also won numerous inter-school and inter-state physics, mechanics, invention and computer science competitions in India. I have experience in leading competition teams and my team and I have won multiple competitions and science fairs as well.

In Canada, I have built and designed multiple machines and devices. I have a design for a self sustaining electricity source, an engine that can run a vehicle on polluted air and an energy source which can generate electricity from polluted water. All of my designs are supported by researches and experiments and small-scale tests that I have conducted too.
I know multiple programming languages. They are:

  1. Python
  2. JavaScript
  3. C++
  4. Swift
  5. HTML and CSS (Not really a programming language but I am well versed.)

I have also completed the online CS50 course by Harvard and Yale and I have completion credentials. I learnt and made an app using Swift in just 2 weeks without any prior knowledge of the language.

I want to change the world. I want to be an inventor and an entrepreneur. My main goals are making an impact in Energy generation, Interplanetary travel and in Earth preservation.

Please inform me of my chances of getting accepted to Harvard or MIT if I apply at the age of 15 for entry in 2020.

Will you be graduating from high school early? Or what are your plans to enter college without a high school degree.

"I have a design for a self sustaining electricity source, an engine that can run a vehicle on polluted air and an energy source which can generate electricity from polluted water. "

Are you jesus too?

You’d be applying as a 10th grader? Your chances are zero. Not very small, literally zero.

How have I not heard of you yet?

No I’m not. I have ideas and worked towards them. In theory, they should work. I would definitely face major problems when constructing prototypes that I cannot foresee. They might not work. I won’t know until I try. That’s sort of the point.

There have been other early acceptances of younger students to ivy leagues.

I have accelerated coursework. I need 100 credits to get a high school diploma where I live. I will have 48 by the end of this semester. I would collect 50 credits over the next semester and request 3 extra credits.

I do not have resources to publish my work with something to show for it. I have designs that should work in theory but I don’t have the resources to conduct the necessary tests and experiments.

Just because other, “younger” kids have been accepted to Ivy Leagues doesn’t mean you will either. In fact, your chances are very, very, very low compared to seniors.

Why not wait until you graduate hs?

You want to apply to Harvard from junior high? I think if that sort of thing could be done it would involve something more than what’s on the apps of thousands of other students. Have you checked the Harvard decision threads to see how your grades, test scores, and ECs stack up against other applicants?

I will do so thanks.

I feel that I am wasting valuable time in high school since I have already completed all of the course ware online and I just have to test for the courses to receive my credits. I have also completed multiple online university courses so I feel that I would be better off surrounded with people smarter than me.

According to MIT’s website it appears you aren’t required to graduate from high school prior to applying for admission https://mitadmissions.org/apply/firstyear/first-year-eligibility/ but you would need to comply with all admission requirements for international applicants including standardized testing etc and as others noted it would be still be extremely difficult to gain acceptance regardless of what age you are when you apply, given MIT’s low acceptance rate.

You’re right but I’m willing to take that very low chance. Even if I don’t get in, I’ll gain valuable insight into the process and be better prepared for when I am 17.

I am aware of the eligibility criteria. Thanks for taking the time to look that up regardless. I’m sure I can achieve acceptable standardized testing scores since my practice test scores look promising. Of course, you are right that it would be extremely unlikely that I would be offered acceptance but I think I would gain valuable experience when I go through the process so even if I don’t get in, I would learn lots. That’s what matters the most to me.
