QueenofEverythin, u might be right! I just checked and saw some earlier postings from Samster72. From those postings it looks like Samster72 is already in UT. hope Samster_72 will clarify this. Thanks

any more update? looks like a very small % of applicants has received the admission offer from McCombs! According to the UT’s website, McCombs total freshman enrollment is around 1200.

I’m top 3% at my school and just submitted the application today.
Do you think they’re still trying to fill up 75% of the business school right now?

does anybody has any idea when we will start hearing from UT about early decision for McCombs? a few people heard about it already but they r in top 1.5% (avg) or so. We have been told that the admission offers come in the following sequence

UT Austin General Admission---->McCombs Admission----->BHP Admission

In general, I believe you need to have a solid “math background”, a great application, and most people seem to be in the top 2% of their class. I heard they will fill up starting with “1%” then when they are full at their “cap” they look at other applicants that are not “top top” of their class. I think the cap usually stops at about 2-3%. That seems ridiculously competitive, but I know a Freshmen currently in McCombs that was not even in top 10%…so it really just depends. Good luck with your son!

@ QueenofEverythin question about “how can #2 be top 7%”

answer: obviously this person goes to a very small school. Think, at a school with 700 people, SEVENTY people are in top 10%, while at maybe a private school with 80 people, only EIGHT are in top 10 person. 10 people, only ONE is top 10 percent (that would SUCK!)…20 people, only TWO people. I’m guessing their school had between 10-20 people.

The way our school district works, all the people who have straight A’s in the most difficult curriculum you can take, are all tied at 1%, and are "valedictorians, so, if you have 1 B in the most difficult curriculum(this year), you are tied at 7%, and are “salutatorians”.

The class has 470ish kids, 33 are vals, 7 are sals.

They don’t have the system where there’s 1 val (which, personally, being “old school”, I think is best, but it is what it is).

Also, routinely, kids who are above 3%, but in the top 10% get in business or engineering (or Stanford, or Penn Wharton, etc.) from our school because it is known to be ridiculously hard, but an incredible preparation for college…
