Hello everyone,

After receiving correspondence from all the schools I applied to, I have been accepted to the following four: UCSB, UCSD, UT Austin, and Lehigh. I am in the process of reviewing the pros and cons of each university in order to help facilitate my decision on which school to attend. Any input you have on any school would be greatly appreciated. I am 18 years old, male, and from Colorado. I am looking for a school that provides excellent academics while at the same time offering a thriving social community. Thank you in advance for your help.

UCSB is the perfect school for giving you great academics and a thriving social community.

UCSD is the school that will give you the best academics but the social community would be lacking.

That is exactly what I have heard from everyone else. Do you know exactly why UCSD is lacking in social life? I was surprised when I heard it initially, but it seems to be widespread. I know that SB has an incredible social life, and I believe the academics are also viable. So, I may be leaning a bit towards it.

A lot of the kids at ucsd, or a lot of the kids who usually are attracted to ucsd, are usually premed/science majors. These kids don’t have time for a social life or lack social skills. i think ucsb attracts kids from all types of majors and frankly ucsb has always been known as a party school. it attracts social types.

Does anyone attend UT Austin or Lehigh that could answer a few questions about them for me?
