In today’s world, the levels of stress are just too high. According to a study, high school students in 2014 have the same amount of stress as the insane asylum patients of 1950s. As we have progressed, the amount of stress we handle in daily life has increased as well. The countries which have paid vacations have more positive employees in general. There are generally two types of stress – positive stress and negative stress. Positive stress is the one which keeps us on our toes during a game, or a presentation or an exam and heightens our level of concentration. It is negative stress which affects are body and is not good for it. Thus employees suffering from negative stress are unable to work to their level of potential. Therefore, paid vacations are required, where the employee can go for a holiday without thinking about whether or not his salary will get reduced and can actually enjoy during the holiday, thus, effectively bringing down his stress level.
When the employees are happy, they tend to look forward to the day. The work done by happy employees. Scientifically speaking, when our stress levels reach a particular level it can shut down the ability to think, feel and act and the body’s ability to repair itself. Thus it is vital that the employers keep their employees happy. A small step towards this could be that the employees are given paid holidays which keeps in check that the employee is not overworking. Most employees do not take holidays under the stress that a cut will be made on their salaries and thus this leads to an increased stress level. This puts extra stress on the employee who could be having stressful house relations or anything of the sort.
As we know, stress can wear down our body. After a long period of being under stress a person falls chronically ill. This brings down the employee attendance rate which finally brings down the amount of work done by a company in a day.
I believe that after a relaxed vacation I can look forward to my work. As a student, after a good week or two’s vacation I personally look forward to my studies. Therefore, I can relate that after a good vacation where you are not stressed about office work, one can look forward to going back to work. But this can only happen if the vacation one goes for is a paid vacation so that the employee does not suffer, as paying for the vacation and then getting a cut on the salary for not getting holiday can really stress out a person a lot.
