When I first started my college search I was told to look into Virginia Commonwealth University. From what I have seen it seems like this school is similar to my high school in terms of diversity, from the people to the extracurricular. I would love to go to a school that has people that comes from all different backgrounds because I feel like there is no better way for someone to be preparing for the real world if they are not able to work well with all other types of people. Once I graduate high school I will become my maternal grandmother’s first grandchild to graduate from high school. I strive to do better than what everyone expect of me with the background that I have. My time in high school started out rocky, with dealing with new surroundings and new people, but I was able to make it through and improve. It was during this time in high school that I decided I would like to have a career in medicine, once I began volunteering at Washington Hospital Center. I was truly happy where I was volunteering and I knew that it was the place where I wanted to be.
Listening to music is one of my favorite activities, but knitting is also a hobby of mine. I am rarely seen without my iPod or my knitting needles because they are so relaxing. I am currently volunteering at a non-profit organization that gives food to people living with terminal illness and at Washington Hospital Center. I am also working as a cashier at a beauty supply store.
