Topic: Do people need to know the source of information before they use it?

Have you ever been reprimanded by others because you gave them bogus or false information? It is embarrassing, isnt it? This is the main reason why people should know the source of information. Personal experiences teach me to verify if the source is reliable before using it. Otherwise, it can bring lots of problems.
Since 2012, Costa Rica and Nicaragua are having territorial disputes. Nacaragua claims that Isla Calero is part of their country when in reality it is of Costa Rica. Therefore, Costa Rica presented the issue to the International Court of Justice. One day, a friend of mine told my classmates that the Court pronounced that Isla Calero is now part of Nicaraguas territory. Some people believed it, including me, but it was not true. The Court was still investigating. However, I and the others who believed it didnt verify where did my friend get the information and instead we just went around and disseminated this information to a lot of students. Many students became angry and were criticizing harshly Nicaragua and the Court. We created a chaos in the school. Later, when we discovered that it wasnt true, we had to clean up the chaos that we created. Imagine all the problems that we had just because of not knowing the reliable source of information. If we had known the source, we wouldnt have disseminated wrong data and made people angry.
Not knowing the source can bring negative impact on certain person or organization. There is a school named Central High School that had financial problems. Then, there were rumors about that the director was going to close the school. Many parents didnt even ask the school to know the source of information, and therefore they believed the rumors and transferred their children to another school. It was really a great impact on the school. If the parents had asked the school to assure the correctness of the rumor, students wouldnt have to transfer, leaving the school with more critical economic problems.
After assaying my personal experience and the schools impact, people indeed need to know where does the information come from? Is it reliable? We do not either want to have or give others not authentic sources since it can have negative consequences such as disturbing others mood or causing a loss on an organization or person.
