Very cool use of old teacups!
We were there yesterday too - S, D, and 3 very young grandchildren. We did the Macy’s and the Comcast light shows and all the rides at Dilworth Plaza. We didn’t do much of the actual Christmas Market. It was very crowded and we were sure we’d lose a grandchild or two in the mob. It was so cold and windy, but we had a great time.
Not my pictures… but probably best to be posted here to be appreciated! This family will have some really great pictures to share!
We went on Wednesday late afternoon and early evening and it was perfect. The weather was not cold and there were virtually no crowds. There were enough people there to make it festive but no lines at any booths etc. I feel really lucky we could go at that time - I enjoyed it way more than I anticipated.
The WanaMacy light show was nostalgic. But seeing the once-grand department store was incredibly depressing.
Not exactly decor, but here is the charcuterie board ds and I made for his Christmas party he had for his high school friends at our house on Saturday. Some still live local but some are in visiting family for the holidays.
When we lived here before we hosted parties for the same friend group while they were in high school and through college until we moved to Florida.
I’m from Philly and my grandmother used to take me shopping at Wanamakers! I still remember some of the party dresses she bought for me from there!
We’ll be in Philly next weekend - any recommendations?
Where will you be, do you have any other plans? Reading Terminal Market is always a fun (chaotic) place to visit. If the Christmas Village in Love Park is still ongoing, that was fun to see. Miracle on 13th street is a residential street that goes crazy with lights and is fun to see. If you are in town on New Year’s Day there is always the Mummers Parade.
Tons of great restaurants all over center city.
Merry Christmas Eve to all, and to all a good night! I’m pooped and Santa comes early to fill stockings before I have to get up and make Christmas breakfast. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2025!
So pretty! And Merry Christmas to you
Lovely! Merry Christmas!
Table is ready for the first night of Chanukah. I’m a bit distracted because our new refrigerator (take 2) is due to be delivered tomorrow morning.
What a beautiful
H took a lot of time to clean up MIL’s tree, and bought new “lights” (plastic crystals?) to fill in the gaps. It looks AMAZING! And neater is that neither of us had ever noticed she had carved her and H’s name in the bottom with the year 1977. H said he remembered doing a lot of sanding on it. I’m sure she would have been very pleased.
Those ceramic trees must have been a thing in the 70’s – my mother made me one then too. I put it out every year, and it brings back good memories, now that my mother is 88 and in memory care.
