I am an Indian student seeking admission to a US university for my Undergraduation in Mechanical Engineering and fees is a concern , my overall budget including tution fees and stay on campus is at max 25000 US dollars

I will not be giving the SAT 1 again and will be applying with these scores only

I have just given my SAT 2 and waiting for the results

I had “University of Michigan” as my dream University…MY MAIN QUERY IS THAT IS THERE ANY DIFFERNCE IN THE DEGREES PROVIDED BY UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN-ANN ARBOR AND OTHER UNIVERSITIES OF MICHIGAN LIKE DEARBORN AND FLINT

I KNOW MY SAT 1 SCORE IS TOO LOW TO GET INTO ANN AROR , BUT IF THE DEGREES ARE NOT DIFFERENT THEN I WOULD LOVE TO GO TO EITHER DEARBORN OR FLINT…

P.s.- “I am a robotic enthusiast , love to make arduino bots (have made a few by myself) so would love to carry to ROBOTICS in Future”

Michigan Ann Arbor is not the same as Michigan Flint, anymore than UC-Berkeley is the same as UC-Merced.

Getting into Michigan-Ann Arbor will require significantly higher test scores.

Michigan costs $60k/year and scholarships/FA for international students is virtually unheard of

Forget about Michigan. Instead, check out the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Minnesota does not require the SAT and costs $30k/year.

Just to clarify, do you mean East Indian, living in India, or do you mean native Indian living in Michigan? It would make a difference…

If you are an international student, while there’s no harm in trying, your budget would not likely be adequate, and as an international student, you’d also have to show you have the means to attend in order to get your student visa.

If that’s the case, it might serve you better to attend undergrad in your country, and aim for graduate work at Michigan.

He’s Indian from India. Native Americans would be accustomed to just stating monetary amounts as “$25,000” instead of “25000 US Dollars.” And CBSE is an Indian thing.

Unfortunately, even if you do get in (chances are you won’t for Ann Arbor), it’s WAY outside your budget, regardless of whether that 25K was per year or for the whole degree. For an international student you should be looking at approx 60K a year so 240K for the degree.

His scores aren’t competitive for Michigan but they’re not that bad either. There’s plenty of universities he’s competitive for, including any other university in Michigan. And Michigan itself was already out because of the cost.

There’s a difference in both the degrees and recruiting from Dearborn and Flint. You might as well think of them as completely separate universities.
If cost has suddenly become a non-factor you could go to Michigan State, or probably Michigan Tech. In other states you might try Purdue or Ohio State.
