or - 6 (10 points lower than other 2 scores)</p>

<p>As a rule, boys do better than girls on multiple choice questions and girls do better than boys on CR items.</p>

<p>“As a rule” means that this cannot be used to predict the performance of any particular boy or girl.</p>

<p>To the person who was wondering why there is this premise…</p>

<p>There is an article that suggests that there will be more female NM Semi Finalists because of a revision in the PSAT.</p>

<p>Also, I keep hearing that the 2005 PSAT is soooo different from past PSAT tests. What was sooooo different? And what do you think the change(s) will result in?</p>

<p>deadpool: We aren’t ridiculous. There were complaints by radical women’s groups that complained that the PSAT was biased against girls in the past. The gist is that CB felt pressured to accomodate the complaints. Now there is a concern that the accomodation may have put the bias of Critical Reading towards girls – when there should be no bias in either gender direction. I am just trying to find out if the new concern has any merit. So far, it doesn’t look like it.</p>
