I’m a Hong Kong student so please forgive me for my poor english. I have been planning to have my university education in the States but things turn out really bad.

I score 1940 in SAT, 800 in MathII, 780 in physics, nothing special. My ECs are rather weak as I lack leadership posts. I believe my essays are ok, at least I did my best.

I have applied to the business schools of UW-madison (my safety), NYU, CMU and UC berkeley. I admit that I made a mistake by applying to both NYU and UC Berkeley as I don’t have great scores. I had always been pretty confident of getting in Madison as it has a reputation of accepting international students and both my parents are alumni, until a few days ago. I was rejected by not only NYU and UC Berkeley, but also Madison. I only made it into CMU’s waiting list.

Does CMU admit a number of applicants from their waiting list? Do I have a good chance? Or am I likely to have to stay in Hong Kong?
