Please Tell Me You Are Not Allowing "Chance Me" Feedback Determine Your App Choices

This is my 2nd post ever on this site, but wanted to say I am shocked over the peer to peer reviews I see. Students are putting everything out there for people to judge whether or not someone has a “good” chance at getting into a school or not. Quite honestly, most of the stats I see are incredible! If I posted my daughters stats most people would destroy her… and would be blown away by the number of stretch schools she has applied to. My advice to my daughter as well as all of you “Ivy hopefuls” is to shoot for the stars, if you end up in the clouds that’s OK- but NEVER sell yourself short and NEVER let anyone tell you that you are not good enough. If you do not have visibility to the ENTIRE candidate pool how can someone (a high school student) make a decision if one individual will make the final cut- just like in business, you need your high AND low performers to be successful (yes, that is ABSOLUTELY true!) a good admissions officer would take a holistic approach when reviewing your application, can ou imagine if you were surrounded by nothing but 2400 SAT scores, 5.0 GPA’s and people who liked the EXACT same things that you do? Creepy right? So be kind and supportive of each other and know the potential impact of the brutal feedback at times… If you think you are good enough- go for it! Good Luck to all 2011 applicants.

Just something to think about…
