my friend asks…
"i need to decide a college to attend! I’m deciding between Northeastern Pharm and Rutgers Pharm!

1 NEU gave me 27k merit + finan aid and 4000 in loans,
2 Rutgers gave me 17k in finan aid 4000 in loans.

I like the NEU campus a lot, the money is a factor though… It seems like life is easier there, the course cirriculum seems ‘nicer’ and also the CO-OP is a thing I like, can someone tell me the experience with that? (I.E. salary etc…)

The RU campus is okay to me… WHenever I visit, it’s always raining… it’d be nice to save money… The curriculum seems so HARD and HARSH, which I’m scared of and from what I’ve heard course load is horrendous

can someone give me some advice as to where I should go?
focusing on what NEU pharmacy life is like… (I.E. living conditions, homework, class, study time, homework time, exam difficulty etc…) also internships and employment opportunities after graduation?

thanks! please respond quickly! i have to make a decision in like 2 or 3 days!"

Call the Dean of Pharmacy School tomorrow and ask him if he can put you in touch with some pharmacy students and pharm alumni. Here is the phone number: 617.373.3380

I am a 2nd year business student at Rutgers-New Brunswick, and am transferring to Northeastern in the Fall.

Do yourself a favor…

Go to Northeastern.

My decision wasn’t academically based…rather, I decided I would have much better networking opportunities in Boston, and you can’t go wrong with their co-op program.

Besides that fact, I hate spending all damn day at Rutgers dealing with the BS bus system hopping back and forth between campuses. (I’m a commuter btw, and the traffic absolutely is horrendous on rt 18 now…lots of construction going on) I waste so much time waiting and sitting on the bus commuting in between campuses, it’s ridiculous.

I’m not a huge fan of the gigantic class sizes either, or the TA’s who can’t speak english for ■■■…I could continue on and on about why I don’t care for Rutgers, but I’d be here all night.

If you have any question about the New Brunswick campus feel free to ask…

My son is looking at NEU. I have many friends who’ve attended NEU and went through the coop program. It has an excellent reputation in New England.
You won’t make a mistake going there. It’s a well run, but academically challenging university.
The only caveat; if you’re a Yankee fan…it’s a short walk from Fenway Park.

I’m a current Rutgers student and enjoy it here, unlike the above poster lol. Do you have any questions about what life is like here?? The pharmacy program is extremeeeely well regarded, and NB is NJ’s healthcare city, with the J&J world headquarters downtown. I doubt NEU has as good a program as RU.

Plus I like life here, I think most people that live on campus do.

New Brunswick simply does not compare to a city like Boston…it’s not even close. Have you ever even been to Boston?

Granted, all of the major pharmaceutical companies are based in NJ, but that doesn’t mean that you have to get your degree in an NJ school to be competitive when looking for a job at these companies.

Sounds like Rutgers or NEU are great choices.
You can’t go wrong with either. I was reporting back on what local grads have experienced so I can’t give accurate feedback on RU.
The best advice I’ve received for my daughter and son is that it’s the BEST FIT for you!
It’s not always about the money or the ratings. Where will you best fit in and excel? Kinda like getting married…
I will vouch for Boston being a great college town. No too big, just big enough so you won’t get bored.
