Is income verification required to obtain the PLUS loan?

A credit check will be issued, but I don’t believe income verification is standard. I would assume that an income verification is a possibility depending upon the lender.

If you are turned down for a PLUS loan, my understanding is your child will be eligible for additional unsubsidized stafford loans.

There is no income verification and the credit check is very loose. You have to be seriously delinquent to be turned down.

I work at a state U. We have TONS of parents who are turned down for PLUS. They can try to get a co-signer if they are turned down. Students are eligible for an additional 4000 (fr/soph) or 5000 (jr/sr) unsub if the parent is turned down for PLUS.

Does PLUS require Income verification?
