<p>“Most schools can teach you basic engineering theory, but BU offered me actual experience” says Jeff Norell (09). His experience proves me BU is an excellent place to research. I was never satisfied with reciting the basic rules of differentiation instead of understanding how they derived from. I could deduce them by using some simple methods. For instance, with regard to the derivative of exponential function, I first needed to add an accessorial function for substitution and knew the definition of natural logarithm. Then I just made delta x tend to zero to conclude the formula. The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program can meet my desire by providing faculty-mentored research projects across all disciplines.</p>
