Thanks. I usually use Apple podcasts and could not find it there. But with that link, I found it on some other generic podcast app.
Maybe that was it - I listened to him on ATK.
Is anyone else listening to the new Serial series, The Retrievals? There is so much to unpack in this story. Waiting for the next episode to drop to see how much of it they get to. The story of dozens of women who underwent egg retrievals in 2020 at Yale’s IVF clinic without anesthetic because a nurse had stolen it and replaced it with saline. Disturbing on so many fronts, and also revealing of how women are treated in the medical, legal, etc arenas. Very well done (so far!)
I am listening. The judge was horrid. What a slap in the face to the victims.
I agree. She watched them being tortured and got off so lightly. I really appreciated how the victims could articulate their feelings about the sentencing. Very interested in hearing how the whole medical establishment rationalized all those data points about pain, which surely they all knew to be "irregular ".
And the one patient — who I think was an oncology nurse, but I get them all confused — knew and stated that she was getting saline. And they still didn’t believe her!!!
I just got back from a walk and thought some might be interested in the topic.
It’s getting warmer outside in the Midwest so I’m doing more outdoor walks. I often listen to podcasts. One of my favorites is Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett. I’ve mentioned specific episodes before, but feel compelled to mention the one I listened to yesterday with Mo Gawdat…who I had never heard of. It had a timely positive effect on me as I am finally tackling the responsibility of dealing with my deceased parents’ belongings.
As the local sibling I had been my parents’ “end of life caregiver” for years. At times it was stressful. But now with them having passed it’s a very different kind of stress. This particular podcast episode is not about grief, it’s about stress. Actually very little had to do with my specific situation, but the theme of stress was interesting to me. I looked at it from a lifelong perspective and how it possibly influenced some of my life choices. I also tried to think about it with respect to my kids’ lives.
Anyway I really enjoy Steven Bartlett’s interview style. He has introduced me to some interesting people I may not have learned about otherwise. He’s a good listener and I recommend his podcasts. Here’s a link to a transcript of that particular episode.
I have another Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett recommendation. The episode from 4/29/24 on Ozempic with Johann Hari is an informative discussion on weight loss drugs and obesity in general. It’s called “ Ozempic Expert: Ozempic Increases This Disease By A Factor Of 9! They’re Lying To You About Ozempic Side Effects & What It’s Doing To Our Brains! - Johann Hari”.
You may be considering trying Ozempic (or a similar drug) or like me, you may be curious about it because someone you care about is using it. It’s a very long episode but so many studies, stats and the anecdotes are shared that I found it compelling.
Here’s a link to the transcript: Transcript of Ozempic Expert: Ozempic ... | Happy Scribe
Based on recommendations here, I did listen to a Stephen Bartlett podcast. Reasonable stuff. But oh my, scrolling through the titles it felt like scanning the sensationalist headlines in the grocery checkout line.
