i’m a poet, and i wanted to write one of my short answer responses in the form of a poem (describing something in my hometown). is it acceptable to write in a different format like this (it’s also in third person)?

Haha. That’s so cute!

Unfortnately, if the admission committee is lazy, much like me, it might not enjoy having to decipher poetryno less poetry in 500 words when poetry is already considered a highly condensed language. I think it’s expecting too much out of them.

Get a full understanding of you after examing rhyme scheme, symbolism, metaphors (and etc.) and figure out the theme and purpose of your poem? Well, maybe they might. I might be bitter beacuse I can’t read poetry very well.

im writing poetry for the 50 word one, not the 500 word. also, it’s not really a gimmick, because i’m writing about a place where my friends i used to go to write poems and stuff.

i mean, i’m not asking if they’ll like it or not, because i can only control that to a certain extent. i just want to know if it’s something that’s prohibited.

thanks

I can’t see why it would be prohibited. It sounds like a great idea, if handled correctly.
