<p>Apparently, a hoax article was published in 1990 in the Connecticut Review with graphs/charts showing how grandmothers of low-performing students were many times more likely to pass away right before final exams than grandmothers of better students.</p>

<p>A UW-Madison professor recently put up an exhibit also spoofing such excuses.</p>
