Polar bear swim

I have heard of these before- but not the sort of thing I participate in.
My older d was more likely to sleep till noon, even if it * wasn’t * New Years Day, but younger D, is going to be making a fast plunge into the chilly water, then heading to work.
eew I don’t think I would swim in that water even if it was summer- but should make for some good pictures.

yes, we have one in Lake Michigan. Not my cup of tea, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

my step-daughter is supposed to be doing one today. She did it last year, but it was 50 degrees and the water wasn’t as cold as it normally would be…this year is bitterly cold.
I will wait for the movie !

We have lots of them today up and down the coast, some for charity, many with hundreds of participants. My 14 yo nephew took the plunge at noon today. But he’s nuts on a good day.

I was over at the beach this morning with the dogs. Absolutely frigid…20’s and a Northwest wind (NJ). I was cozy in my 4 layers and Uggs. Even the surf-loving dogs (one’s a lab) didn’t go in the water so that tells you something.

Just heard the sports reporter at the outdoor hockey game at Wrigley in chicago say its so cold even the ice cubes are frozen.
