Poli Sci Major

I am currently a junior in high school and it’s time to start researching colleges. I live in Arkansas and with my financial situation, it would be a good idea to stay in the south, closer to home, than to go off up north or out west. What are some colleges in the south that offer good political science programs? Your help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Emory? Davidson? Eckerd?

What range of selectivity are you looking for? What states?

Well what you want to do is to make sure that you do not spend to much for a school that is half decent. What I suggest is something you probably wont like at first but pays off, and that is only if your willing to do this it isn’t your only option. What you should do is go to a community college for about 1 year and get an AMAZING GPA, then you transfer to a really good school. The thing is, you will be learning the same exact thing as all of the other students the first 2 years of college anyways, so you might as well save your money and then go to a really good school for your actual major that wish to do. So definitely think about that first, it will also give you time to expand your options. If you still have some questions just send me a PM or just reply its easier. Thanks. Good Luck.

I suggest Rhodes College - very good political science program, close to you in Memphis (most beautiful campus I’ve visited), and amazing merit scholarships.

If large universities are fine with you, you might want to look at the University of Texas-Austin and University of Oklahoma, as both have excellent political science departments,

A great thing to look out for are the Co-Op and internship opportunities. It is a great way for you to excel in this type of major in a sense that you will achieve better work experience and will be beneficial to you later on down the road.
