This is more emergency responders, but I thought it was a good story.
I just loved that one of the first responders was described as a “tiny” woman, yet had the training and strength to do the job to the surprise of those being rescued.
The technical abilities of some first responders would amaze most people if the really got the chance to witness it in person.
As a heads up, this is not a heartwarming tale.
This week a woman was killed and her two children (ages 3 & 6) were abducted, with only one of the children found alive and a sexual assault charge included in those for murder. Two suspects have been arrested in the case, and law enforcement found some wire cages and believe that the suspects may have been involved in human trafficking. (Local story and CNN story.)
Sadly, this is the kind of situation that many people think of when thinking of the police. There’s been a terrible crime, and the police have been called in to try and help. I can only imagine the horror of coming across a body with blood all over the place or finding a deceased child, especially one that may have been abused. Just reading about the situation is horrifying, and law enforcement officers have to be prepared to deal with these kinds of traumas on a regular basis.
So thank you to the officers who deal with some of the worst aspects of our society so that the rest of us do not have to, and, for the majority of them, who maintain excellent standards of human decency and thoughtfulness.
Thank you for posting this. A friend’s wife worked CSI for the state police. After processing a particularly horrific scene she resigned. All first responders see things in their career that most people can’t process, or handle.
This deputy intentionally crashed into a wrong way driver to protect the public.
And what a job to stop that car without injuring its occupants. Amazing courage, skill and divine protection.
Delete, wrong thread
I think allowing a popular Youtuber to participate in S.W.A.T training classifies as something “good” that police officers do. It demonstrates the time, training and dedication it can take to serve the public. She does pretty well, BTW.
Thanks, that is cool.
