Policy Analysis and Management vs Economics Major

Hey so I’m trying to decide between the two majors mentioned above, hoping to ask for advice on my chances, and which one may be less competitive/better fit for me?

SAT: 1530, Math II: 800, Literature 760

IB predicted grades 41/42 (or 44/45 including CAS and TOK)

ECs:

Founder/editor of student newspaper on Hong Kong economic and political affairs, supervised by a professor at HKUST.
Interviewed professors from local unis on current economic policy, especially with regard to the recent protests
(11/12th grade)

6 week internship helping a professor at Hong Kong University with his research on ‘Urban and Geographic Systems’, my work was mostly to do with economic development, regional cooperation etc.
Collated a ‘Pearl River Delta Database’ that is now published by the university
This guy also wrote me a rec letter
(11th grade)

4 yrs varsity basketball, also interhouse basketball captain meaning I coach younger players, organize tournaments etc.

200 volunteering hours teaching kids English at a local primary school
(11/12th grade)

and some other clubs and stuff…

Awards:

Finalist (Top 10) in regional entrepreneurship competition

Some regional debating awards from World Scholars Cup

Not much apart from that…

Also I have a rec letter from my professor at Cornell Summer College

Would appreciate any thoughts/advice thanks!

you’re a better fit for PAM, in my opinion. make sure you do your research on the goal/mission of the undergraduate colleges before applying to make sure you vibe with it and know how to write the supplement!

Depends, in large part, upon your career goals as to which major is better for you.
