Will colleges ever look up my political affiliation/donation record when reviewing my application? I am not going to offer up my political history in my application, but my donation history is easily accessible on the FEC’s homepage if searching my name. If so, will it hurt my chances?
Hard to say. We hear stories of some schools trying to learn all they can about selected applicants. But most schools probably won’t bother.
Interesting comment. I do know that many employers research applicants, but didn’t know that colleges might do the same.
Possible that candidates for major scholarship awards are thoroughly researched, but doubtful that most schools have the time or desire to do so.
I think you need to consider whether you would even want to go to a school that might ding you because of your political contributions or affiliations.
Unless you are contributing funds to a hate group, I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
If there were only a way to know!
