ISO more details on the feel and campus culture at Wake. How active are the students? Does the southern location inform the politics of the students? TIA!
I would not consider Wake Forest a politically active campus.
First, it is a bubble both physically and conceptually. The campus is set by itself in the forest with residential neighborhoods surrounding and not much of anything to walk to.
A lot of UMC and some outright wealthy students mixed with a smaller group of low income and some athletes of mixed backgrounds. So I would not say there is a lot of hardship present that would fuel the fire so to speak.
Next, it is heavy greek because of comments about location above. So if students are concerned about anything besides academics, I would say it is which house they are in and where that house stands compared to others. (Not literally since there are technically not fraternity or sorority houses.)
So I consider it light on politics and because it is private and isolated physically, you are less likely to see mass demonstrations or anything too charged on campus.
