Attacker was a disgruntled former student who apparently targeted anyone who wasn’t a Republican:

One of the victims was a student journalist whose account of being targeted by systemic racism was denounced as a lie by the attacker sometime before the attack.

That is horrible and terrifying. Thank goodness he didn’t have a gun.

Sad thing is in some of the comments of those articles, some are citing this attack as an argument for lowering gun restrictions.
