8th-Geometry
9th-Algebra II
10th-Precalc
11th-AP Calc AB/AP Stat
12th-AP Calc BC

all in honors form when available

9th-Algebra II
10th-Precalc
11th-AP Calc AB/AP Stat
12th-AP Calc BC

all in honors form when available

What is available
Pre-Algebra
Pre-geometry
General Math
Algebra
Geometry
Algebra 2
Pre-Calc
PSEO/ICN Calc

I took 9th Algebra
10th Geometry & Algebra 2
11th (Now) Pre-Calc.

There are 3 juniors in pre-calc and 12 seniors.

7 - Algebra 1 Honors
8 - Geo. w/ Trig Honors
9 - Algebra 2 Honors
10 - Precalc Honors
11 - AP Calc AB
12 - AP Stats

Hardest track except for 11th… could’ve taken BC.

My schedule:

6th: 7th grade math
7th: AGS I (Algebra 1 equivalent - AlGeoStat)
8th: AGS II
9th: AGS III (Pre-calc test-out summer after)
10th: AP Statistics

Sigh, don’t even remind me how much I hate the math sequence at my school.

yeah, I’m one of those people that feel severely insulted by the fact that I can’t move up level in math due to school restriction. And i’m even more irritated by the fact that my counselor never informed me of the fact that I could get around the restriction through summer school, in fact, she told me quite the opposite.

Self study anyone?

grade school: pre-algebra, algebra 1
9th: geometry-alg 2
10th: trig-analysis (pre-calc)
this year: ap calc ab

hardest track at my school

8th: Pre-algebra
9th: Regents Algebra 1
10th: Regents Geometry
11th: Regents Algebra 2
12th: either Regents Math 12 or Honors Precalc AB

I’m not advanced. In 6th grade, I was, but in 7th I moved down since I didn’t do well in 6th. In 9th I tried Honors, but couldn’t hack it, same with this year (11th).

While I’m not advanced, I’m not behind either. I’m on the normal track for math, so I’m good.

8th: pre-algebra
9th: geometry
10th: algebra II
11th: precal
12th: calc

I skipped algebra completely and sort of just learned it along the way. it worked out for me. (how i passed the placement test? i don’t know)

7th: Pre-Algebra
8th: Algebra I
9th: Geometry Honors/Algebra II Honors
10th: PreCalculus Honors
11th: AP Calculus AB/AP Calculus BC
12th: AP Statistics

My school is a little weird with Calculus. Students that want to take the AB test takes the AB course and students that want to take the BC course takes AB and BC…

This track finishes every honors or AP level math course at my school.

7th: Pre-Algebra
8th: Algebra
9th: Geometry
10th: Advanced Algebra
11th: Pre-Calc
12th: AP Calc BC

7th grade-Pre Algebra
8th grade-Algebra 1
9th grade-Algebra 2
10th grade-Geometry.

I was supposed to take Geometry over the summer of 9th grade but I switched schools and they didn’t offer that there. So I got screwed and had to follow the regular path instead of being 1 year ahead.

11th grade-Math Analysis/Pre-Calc Honors
12th grade- Calculus

8th grade: Pre-Algebra
9th grade: Honors Algebra I
10th grade: Honors Geometry
11th grade: Honors Algbra II
Summer Before 12th Grade: Honors Pre-Calculus
12th grade: AP Calculus AB

Before I took the summer course, I was on the average track, although I was one year behind virtually every AP student. After pre-calc, I was average for an advanced student, but its a shame I won’t get to take BC before I finish high school. Oh, well.

I also wanted to take AP Statistics, but I got screwed over because nobody told me I could take AP Stats with only Algebra II, so by the time I tried to get my summer pre-calc teacher to switch me out, the class was full and I was stuck with a useless class called AP Human Geography. T-T

7th: Pre-algebra (Highest possible for me)
8th Algebra I (They just started their Algebra program back for the first time in about 10 years) (Highest possible for me)
Summer after 8th grade: Geometry (Honors)
9th grade: Algebra II (Standard… I have to take it online… it is only offered as standard)/Pre-cal (Honors)
(I’m currently in 9th, but here’s the plan…)
10th Calculus AB/BC (Depending on pre-cal grade)
11th If NCSSM Differential equations/?
If I’m still at my current school:
No course offered/ Differential Equations
12th If NCSSM ?/?
My current school:
No courses offered/No courses offered

My school actually only offers year-long courses, but because I can’t self-study or have a class of one, I’m taking it online. Therefore I’ll be 3 years -2 years ahead of all but one person in my school (Who is one semester behind me, but will not be able to take pre-cal over the summer and will then be 1 year behind me).
Pax et bonum,
James Crowe

This was the sequence I was supposed to follow in school:

GT Math 07: Algebra I
GT Math 08: Algebra II
GT Math 09: “Geometrires and Transformations”
GT Math 10: “Functions and Graphs/Analytic Geometry” (ie. Precalculus)
GT Math 11: “Discrete Mathematics/Computer Applications” AND “Calculus I & II (Honors)” (we were supposed to double up junior year)
GT Math 12: “Calculus III”

What I actually did was to delay discrete math/comp. app. to senior year because I couldn’t fit it into my schedule junior year. What was strange was that the discrete math/comp. app. course got the GT designation for grade 11, not calc 1&2, which was labeled “honors”. I would have thought it to be the other way around. Some years later, I heard that the discrete math/comp. app. course was dropped, juniors weren’t required to double up, and calc 1&2 got the GT designation for grade 11.

A number of you stated that you took Geometry BEFORE Algebra 2. Is that the standard sequence now? Was mine (Algebra 2 BEFORE Geometry) the standard sequence years ago, and if so, why the switch?

BP

7th Pre-Algebra
8th Algebra 1
9th Geometry
10th Algebra 3/4 Trig
going to take pre-calc next summer and then
11th AP calc AB/BC
and then I hope to god I’m done until college

my math sequence could turn out one of two ways.

i have taken/am in
7-adv math/pre alg
8-alg 1
9-geometry H (only honors offered)
10- alg 2

would like to take
11-pre calc and calc 1 at a CC
12-calc 2 and 3 at same CC

might end up (staying at my school)
11-pre calc
12- AP calc AB

it all depends on what kind of mood my GC is in when scheduling comes around.

I am in the highest track possible, and am bored to tears. I hate small towns with their crappy schools.

Sixth Grade: Seventh grade math (I yr ahead)
