6th: Geometry
7th: Algebra 1-2 (switched from a private to a public school that required public school credits for their math classes)

I’ve taken all the math classes my school has to offer (besides the ■■■■■■■■ classes)

HP means “Honors Placement.”

I’m like half a year ahead.

9th: HP Geometry

10th: HP Algebra 2

11th: HP Precalculus/trig

12th: AP Calc

Pretty generic I guess.

@ Databox: Aren’t you supposed to take algebra 1 BEFORE geometry?

Wow, I hate my school compared to everyone else’s! For us, you must go through their prerequisites to get to math classes you can handle much earlier.

7th: Honors Pre-Algebra [learned absolutely nothing new, wish they would have let me go straight to Algebra!]
8th: Honors Algebra 1
9th: Honors Geometry
10th: Honors Algebra 2 with Trig
11th: Honors Pre-Calc
12th: AP Calc with the option of taking Honors Calc instead

I feel very behind. Sad thing is, some school districts around here actually don’t let you have the option of taking Algebra 1, a high school class, in 8th grade, so they are even further behind!

6th - Prealgebra
7th - Algebra I
8th - Geometry
9th - Algebra II H
10th - Precalculus H
11th - IB Math HL/AP Calculus BC
12th - AP Statistics, Calculus 3 (still up in the air)

…um, just to scare you a bit, I had self studied calculus before finishing elementary school…

I went to private school in sixth grade that allowed me to keep on skipping math classes if I got 100%s on the finals for the classes, I aced the 6th,7th,8th, algebra, and geometry tests, but geometry was the highest class they had so I was forced to take it…then when I switched back to a public school in seventh grade my counselor was an idiot and didn’t accept my previous private school credits for algebra and geometry and put me in algebra 1…

6th and 7th: Prealgebra/A little bit of Algebra I
8th: Hon Algebra
9th: Hon Geometry
10th: Hon Precalculus BC

7th grade - Pre-algebra (regular)
8th grade - Algebra 1 (regular)
9th grade - Geometry MCR
10th grade - Algebra 2 MCR
11th grade - Functions/Trig/Stat (My teacher referred to it as “MORE HIGH SCHOOL ALGEBRA!”)
12th grade - AP Statistics

So, I was always taking the classes typically meant for my grade level, but at a lower level. 11th grade most people either take pre-calc or the class I took. It was frustrating because I just don’t understand math, which is why I took them, but most of the other people in the classes just didn’t care at all about school /:

AP > Honors > Regular > MCR

6- algebra II
7- geometry/trigonometry
8 - pre calculus
9- AP Calculus AB
10- AP Calculus BC
11- multivariable calculus/AP statistics
12-linear algebra/differential equations/analytical calculus

OK, edit from a previous post:

8th: Algebra I
9th: Geometry + Algebra II/Trig (doubled up)
10th: Pre-Calculus
11th: AP Calculus BC
12th: AP Statistics or Calculus 3. I’m hoping for Calculus 3, though, because I really want a challenge.

8th: Algebra 1 and Algebra 2
9th: Geometry and Trig
10th: AP Stat and Precalculus
11th: Analytic Geometry & Calculus A; Analytic Geometry& Calculus B
12th: Analytic Geometry & Calculus C / Principles of Discrete Math; Ordinary Differential Equations

It’s like a split year type thing…

8th- Algebra 1
9th - honors geo
10th- honors algebra 2
I 'm hoping to skip pre-cal next year for AP CALC AB though

To All,

1) Is it worth to take class from EPGY during school year?
2) What math course is recommended after Multiple Variable?
3) Is it hard to get a letter grade “A” from EPGY for Linear Algebra and Diff Equations courses?
4) Any other advices for 10 grader who’s current taking Multiple Variable in high school and will want to enroll to EPGY for math courses next year school year (2009-2010)?

Thanks,

7th grade - Math Honors/First year of Math A - failed out (i was a rebel in middle school =D) +1

8th grade - Pre-Math A +0 (same course i took in 6th grade pretty much, love my school)

9th grade - year 1 of Math A - took the regents half a year early, got a 100 on it =) +0

10th grade - Math B1 - 1st year of Math B, again took the regents half a year early, got a 97 on it +1/2

11th grade - Precalculus +1, AP Statistics

12th grade - AP Calculus +1

i had to fight my school to take my regents early, and get back on the honors track. if only i knew back then that 7th grade would determine the math classes i took in HS.

6th grade: Math
7th grade: Pre-Algebra
