Pollution on campus?

<p>What’s that factory on campus by Paulley Pavilion that always spews smoke into the air? I thought we had a green campus…</p>

<p>it’s a thingy, for lack of a better word. we don’t have factories on campus -.-</p>

<p>Its a power plant. To be more specific, a cogenerational power plant (the building and offices in there are actually referred to as Cogen) that uses natural gas to produce both electricity (it provides around 70-80% of campus power) and heat (for the steam pipes, etc.). And yes, its steam - nothing more.</p>
