Just wanted to know how the northwestern polysci dept. stacks up against others in the nation. I attended a polysci class @ preview and was entirely unimpressed.

eugh…dont say that…im gonna major in poli sci…i knew i should ahve stayed and watched a class

I don’t have access to US news anymore. I remember it’s ranked either #20 or #21.

it’s 21. and I’m a poli sci major here, and the classes I’ve taken so far have been great. what class did you attend, sam?

I attended “History of Political Thought” at 9:30 AM on a tuesday. It was god-awful, the TA taught it that day and everyone looked bored and it was just generally god-awful.

History of Political Thought is an awful, soulless introductory survey course. I came to NU as a poli sci major, and after taking that class freshman year, decided to switch to Communication, which is the school from which I graduated.

From what I hear, if you can stomach that awful “History of Political Thought” sequence, the major gets far better. Personally, I was happy leaving the poli sci department and Weinberg’s disastrous advising system behind.

What are the top 10 or 20 PoliSci schools? and/also International Relations? I have the unsubscriber verison of USNWR

yes thats a good question… does anyone know?

Poli Sci is Harvard, Yale, U Mich, Stanford I believe … IR is Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, maybe Tufts?

US News doesn’t rank IR.
