Background: I’ve applied to both Pomona and Pitzer and will be a Sagehen if I get into either of them.

So, I’m wondering how competitive the D3 Sagehen team is. I used to love basketball, then kinda drifted away from it a while, and now I’m really getting back into it. I haven’t played on my high school team, but I’ve played intramural b-ball at my school the last couple years and have been getting better. I’m no Lebron, but with adequate skill would I be able to play on the team having not played for my high school’s team??

I am a girl applying for Pomona and I have talked to the women’s basketball coach. They focus mostly on academics and are very understanding if you have to miss practice to do classwork. I have a brother who played on the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps team and it was pretty competitive. i think it might be difficult for you to walk on the team if you have not had high school basketball experience, but I am not sure.
For me, i’m more worried about whether or not I can get into Pomona…

If you are serious about playing Sagehen basketball i recommend talking to the coach. Only then will he know you are serious about playing D3 ball.
