poor academic record...chances at NYU or Illinios

Ok before I rattle off my stats, here’s my story:

I graduated hs in 2000 and soon after, enrolled in a local state college. I performed very poorly, in fact I have the dubious honor of having bombed my way towards an academic dismissal in a mere two semesters. Let’s just say I had a laundry list of personal problems back then and unfortunately, academics were the least of my concerns.

However, in fall 2003 I enrolled a community college, graduated and now currently sitting on a 3.75 GPA at UMass (yes, ZooMass).

Here’s my a list of my ec’s:
*International Club at the community college (served as club president for a year)
*Volunteered for Cambodian Expressions (an annual series of events celebrating Cambodian culture)
*Computer Club at the CC (prez)
*worked as a math tutor at a charter school
*Volunteered at UTEC - a program for underprivileged, inner-city kids
*Massachusetts WaterWatch
*member South Asian Students Assoc.
*Asian-American Student Assoc.
*mentored at the YWCA

All this while holding down a full-time job. Additionally, I have dynamite recs from two of my professors, a Dean of International students and I’m confident I churn out a quality essay.

What do you think my chances of getting into NYU, Illinois Urbana-Champaign or Wisconsin-Madison are? I know my previous college stint (and hs record) flat-out stinks, but will adcoms recognize the improvements I made and my ec’s?

BTW, I’m a bio major.

bump…

And dammit! The fact that I can’t change that typo in my thread title really bothers me! lol
