Going into community college I had a 3.3 GPA in high school. Over the last three years, my mother ended up getting very sick, and my dad had his hours at work cut in half. This required me to take on a full-time job while going to school full time with about 17-19 hours each semester. This put me in a very overwhelming situation where I was trying to balance school, work, and extracurriculars since I was a part of my school’s choir and theatre shows each semester as well. Last spring, my GPA dropped to a 2.1 because of everything piling on top of one another and spreading myself thin. After last semester I brought my GPA back up to a 2.47 and I am finishing my last semester right now. I am hoping for at least a 2.7/2.8 GPA by the end of it. Are schools understanding and take into consideration these situations if I am able to explain to them what happened? Do schools like to see growth? Also, is a 2.7 GPA going to suffice for schools such as Ringling, SVA, or Boulder University?
If you can explain your situation, anything is possible
