Poor man writing essay on green building

Hi folks, I guess the time has come.

I’m an ok writer, but usually from an objective perspective, not sentimental or overly descriptive essays.

I’ve written this essay about green building, and it’s supposed to answer the common app question about the significant influence. I think I’ve (kind of subtly) said a lot about myself (note the zealous part, and some other stuff) but most folks I’ve shown it to said I need to talk even more; I think they’re suggesting I write a sob story. The only way I think I could do that would be to talk about how I learned responsibility and derived my passion for civil engineering/architecture through working 35-40 hours a week in a construction firm to support my family’s low income, and how that intensified during twelfth grade due to the housing slump and stil maintaining a 4 GPA with AP classes. However, my guidance counselor is probably going to mention that in her rec, so I don’t want to reiterate what she’s saying. In a recent post, someone said I should start my essay with “I can demolish your house with a Caterpillar”. It’s not a finished essay, though.

I might need some ideas to write about. I’ll post a chances thread, and if anyone would be nice enough to take some time and help a guy out, he/she can get an idea of who I am/what I do.

I’m working in construction until around 11 now, and it’s been real hard for me to find time to talk to folks about college admissions etc… I just found out about questbridge, but the application is closed. I would grateful to anyone who could help a poor smart guy out. Thanks!

bumpizzle…please
