Poor test scores on ACT -- Do research institutes like RSI take into account if you retake tests?

I recently took the ACT, and I have been looking into research institutes like RSI among many other ones which are easier to get into. Unfortunately, I bombed the ACT math section, and it is well below the recommended threshold. I know I can get a perfect score on each of those sections. So if I retake it, will that fix the problem? Or do I have no chance of making it in at this point (of course, with something like this your chance is already pretty low).
