Pop Up Restaurants

A few nights ago we went to a pop up restaurant with D and FSIL. It was behind another restaurant with a nondescript
door. It was the Monday menu for $40 and BYOB. There were 26 in a garage space. OMG the food was amazing. We had only 4 courses while the Wednesday group is $60 and 8 coursesI had a great time going back to talk with the various cooks. The communal tables worked out to be
fun.

I have since googled pop up restaurants and singed up on some email lists. Some only have an event every few
weeks. One is a secret time and place and you only find out 24 hours ahead of time.

Many are chefs who work at very popular restaurants and this is a way they control the menu for a night.
Others run food trucks.

This was a really fun event. It is a bit like a Speak Easy but with food rather than drinks.

Had never heard of the concept so I had to look it up. It appears to be very trendy these days.

“Pop-up restaurants, also called supper clubs, are temporary restaurants. These restaurants often operate from a private home, former factory or similar space, and during festivals. Pop-up restaurants have been popular since the 2000s in Britain and Australia but they are not a new phenomenon. Pop-up restaurants have existed in the United States and Cuba”

I will have to find out if there are any on the east coast. .

Hope the Health Department is keeping an eye on them. Food poisonings at restaurants, sadly, happen. Sometimes with really bad consequences for the guests.
