<p>I want to know just how popular(or not) computer programming is? Does anybody on CC actually know to program computers and what language are you familiar with?</p>
<p>I’m a computer science major. Not sure what you mean by how popular computer programming is… are you asking if it’s a popular major for college? Or are you asking if programming helps you get hot babes, cause it doesn’t haha. I have experience programming in C/C++, LISP, HTML, MIPS, and PHP (I came up programming in C++ and that’s what I’ve most commonly used in class… I do a lot of web programming though). A lot of majors actually require you to take a class or two where you’ll have to do some programming nowadays, especially engineering and math type majors.</p>
<p>it certainly won’t get you dates with chicks, but It’ll definately get you a good job.</p>

<p>uhh i know how to comp program. i know Java, PHP, HTML, VB (Visual Basic), and going to learn C++/C, XML, ColdFusion, mySQL.</p>

<p>You know what’s ironic? Getting a bachelor’s degree in computer science is not necessarily more valuable than getting certified (MCSE, CCNP, RedHat, etc.).</p>
<p>C++ programmer over here. A couple of open-source projects (ameba.tigris.org is the example of one), huge perspective, revolutionary, mind-blowing, whatallotherwordsthatsalesmenuseare project where there is 20% of WinSocks+Boost+STL C++ programming, and a part-time job as C++/COM programmer.
Basically I began with QBasic at the age of 9 (well, last monthes before I was 10), then progressed to Visual Basic, C and, a couple of (~3) years ago – C++. I was actually set-up to go as CS major all my last five years of life until this April when I (as I was before getting known with programming) changed my thoughts to be thinking of a physics major.</p>
