According to the UC Merced website, portal information will be available January-February. Since Spring Semester does not start until January 10th, admissions may still be closed for winter break.

Visit my.ucmerced.edu to access your portal. From your portal, you’ll be able to check on your admission status, learn about campus events and update the Office of Admissions about any changes to your academic record.

My son received his on Jan 7. Or, email admissions@ucmerced.edu for enquiry. But, probably he is okay now.
