Portfolio-based different for scholarship notification?

First of all, a big congratulations to everyone who got their acceptance today in SoCal!! It’s so exciting to see so many of the great people on this forum get their acceptance, and I want to wish you all great luck at the interviews! :)

But alas, I am in SoCal and did not receive a package, so I’m extending one last hope…do talent-based/portfolio-based schools get their scholarship notification and acceptances later than the regular schools? I applied to SCA, so I’m just wondering if it’s different because they have so many more portfolios to get through than regular applications?

I’m guessing “no” and that I just didn’t receive a scholarship and that this post is just fueled by unwarranted wishful thinking, but I just thought I’d ask before my hope is crushed completely! :p

Hey, Eiffel. We’re all pulling for you! As you guessed, all notifications of scholarship invitations go out together, so all schools must act in the same timely manner in order to give students time to make travel plans, etc. That said, I seem to recall that Trustee invitations go out first (and some mail delivery is up to 2 days late, depending on your friendly local mail carrier). There may still be time for SoCal Trustee packets to be delivered. And the Presidential candidates may not yet have been mailed. Some go out in early Feb.

Don’t mean to get anyone’s hopes too up, but don’t think it’s time to give up yet either. Hang in there, guys.

It’s my understanding that there are also non-academic talent scholarships from various schools (art, music, etc.) for which no interview is required, because they are based on a student’s portfolio or audition. If no interview is needed, perhaps these admits go out later.

Thanks so much, guys! That does give me a little more hope! But I won’t get my hopes up too much, of course…
