I’m from Rhode Island and it has been my dream for years to come to California for college. After getting rejected from Pomona(first choice early decision), and wait-listed at Pitzer, I thought it would never happen. It was March 31st and there was only one college I hadn’t heard from yet… USC. I was both overjoyed and horrified; glad at the prospect of getting into a college that had been growing on me the more I thought about it, and frightened about “missing out on” the whole “starting college in the fall” experience. It seemed that I was doomed to red tape, I got into NYU under the liberal studies program, and it was as though there was always a catch when I got a college acceptance letter. However, I have been thinking more about it and am now really excited at the opportunity. I have Grandparents who live on the beautiful Palos Verdes peninsula and I am planning on moving in with them for the fall, taking classes at either Marymount, Harbor, or El Camino, getting my first job, and then going to one of the best universities in the country! I have been looking through this site and have found just a ton of negative comments and pessimistic views about starting USC in the spring and would like to hear some of the positive; so if you have had a good experience with this situation or are in my shoes and just excited to be a spring admit, let me know who you are.

im in your same shoes as a spring 2011 admit… and so was my brother last year. at the last moment he decided to take up USC’s offer and enroll in the spring. his fall wait time was filled with working and community college courses… and when he got to USC the fall waiting period was a thing of the distant past. he absolutely loves USC and has no regrets. which is really tempting me to also follow in his footsteps… i still haven;t made a final decision but turning down an opportunity as USC is something i can’t see myself doing.
