Possibilities for Chemistry Majors

This may sound like a dumb question, but what career opportunities are available for chemistry majors? Or are there any subfields with particularly positive outlooks in the future?

Having been one, I’d like to say they’re great but they’re not. An advanced degree is almost always required to find meaningful work and compensation. Teaching is one exception to this rule, and you will be encouraged to get an advanced degree in education if you go into teaching. My son is graduating in a week and looking at his options inside and outside the field. You can also look at food and forensic science and the generic lab tech job. Chemical engineers ar much more in demand.

my son loved chemistry, but opted for Chemical Engineering as his major because he felt it gave him more options -career-wise. He loved that major. Plus, the salaries for ChemE majors are much higher than those of Chem majors. That said, my son opted to go to med school, but having the ChemE degree gave him options in case he decided on a different career.
