Just reported on the news that someone who recently travelled to the U.S. From Nigeria, I believe, was taken to the hospital in Birmingham, AL with Ebola-like symptoms.
The good news is that the vaccine trial has been 100% successful.
It’s now being reported that the man tested negative for Ebola but instead has malaria. He’s regarded as low risk but monitoring will continue although he reported no direct exposure to ebola and has been previously tested.
Also, @teriwtt , my understanding is that the ebola vaccine is only for certain strains of the disease. Kinda like the flu. But yes, it’s a great beginning.
Wow–no ebola in Nigeria since October (and a very small outbreak at all there) and an ill person from there is immediately labeled as possible ebola, rather than the much more likely possibilities. Murica likes the drama.
